9 Picture Books for Strong Girls
As we continue to march our way through Women’s History Month (see what I did there?), I thought I’d share just 9 picture books for strong girls. These are great books to share with young girls, obviously, but they also need to be read with boys too. Repeat after, “there is no such thing as boy books and girl books.”
Frankly, girls always end up with the short end of the stick – they are often expected to read books with male protagonists, but we don’t often expect the same from boys. And that’s unfair. Why can’t boys read books with female protagonists? I wrote about this issue a few years ago when a female author was invited to speak at a school… but only to the girls.
So, my task for you is to read books about strong girls to all kids. Because these are amazing books that all kids should hear!
