If you’re looking for some really great titles for a newborn baby or toddler in your life, you’ve got to check out Leslie Patricelli! Her board books are perfect for little ones! They’re full of big bold colors, simple words and concepts little ones can understand, and they’re a lot of fun too!
Yummy Yucky is one of my favorites to give as a baby shower gift. Throughout the story, the little baby discovers both yummy things to eat and yucky things that don’t go in your mouth.
I bought this for a good friend when she had her first baby. She shared with me that she and her toddler were out grocery shopping one day and they stopped for a treat – coffee for mommy and a cookie for her little one. Her little sweetheart quoted this book to her – “Mommy’s cookies are yummy. Mommy’s coffee is yucky.”
And right there is why reading is so important. This little one was able to connect what she and her mommy read in a book to a real-world scenario. Kids can learn about all sorts of concepts and themes, emotions, and vocabulary and then be able to recognize it in other places.
