Inauguration Thoughts
Yesterday was a good day. I get to wake up with a woman of color in the second highest position in our country this morning. And that is an exciting thing indeed. My niece is just three years old. She gets to grow up in a country where a female Vice-President is the norm. Not a someday. How awesome is that? I’m sharing just a few of my inauguration thoughts today!
Yesterday’s inauguration was one of small moments and HUGE meaning. The inauguration was filled with girl power! From Lady Gaga’s performance of the National Anthem, to the swearing in of Kamala Harris by Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, to the Youth Poet Laureate Amanda Gorman’s recitation, and truly, performance, of her poem The Hill We Climb. It’s was definitely an exciting day in history.
There is a lot of work to be done. And we’re not going to magically become the country we should be overnight. Realistically, it won’t happen in just the next four years. But, I think there are a lot of people that want to see change, that want to have tough conversations, that want to leave the world a better place and I think that’s at least a very good starting point.
