Diwali Picture Books
Happy Diwali readers! One of India’s largest holidays of the year, this 5-day festival of lights begins today! Learn more about Diwali from Nat Geo Kids! My community has a large population of Indian families and the library celebrates Diwali every year. Typically we host a large gathering and highlight modern and traditional dance, delicious snacks, and programs for kids. Because Diwali is celebrated differently across India, we invite families to highlight their own traditions by setting up tables to share with others.
Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, we weren’t able to host our typical celebration. We did share a virtual storytime for families that was very popular. We paired up one of our storytellers with one of our pages who is Indian American to help showcase this beautiful holiday. Learn more about the Festival of Lights and the battle of good over evil with these Diwali Picture Books.

Awesome list! It’s good that you could celebrate Diwali virtually, atleast. It’s the quietest Diwali I’ve had in my entire life, so far😁.
