Four on Friday: Nuts & Seeds
I love the fall when you starting seeing acorns on the ground! I think they’re so cute with their little caps! Today on Four on Friday: Nuts & Seeds I’m sharing a couple of books that are poetic, informational, and fun! It’s the perfect time of year to talk about them – acorns, pumpkin seeds, apple seeds, and more. Have you ever roasted your own pumpkin seeds after carving a jack-o-lantern? If you haven’t tried it yet, you’re missing out! There are tons of great spices you can use for different flavors – it’s so fun. If you love these stories, check out my storytime suggestions all about squirrels – they go hand-in-hand!
Four on Friday: Nuts & Seeds
- Because of an Acorn by Lola M. Schaefer and Adam R. Schaefer, illustrated by Frann Preston-Gannon
- Let’s Go Nuts!: Seeds We Eat by April Pulley Sayre
- A Seed Is Sleepy by Dianna Hutts Aston, illustrated by Sylvia Long
- Seeds Move by Robin Page
What a cute craft project for this time of year – painting acorns! I think older kids could definitely handle painting them carefully or you could try dipping them in the paint with little ones for a more “rustic” look. Plus, you can use them as decoration for your Thanksgiving table!
