#BeWhoYouAreDay
Today I’m celebrating #BeWhoYouAreDay with author/illustrator Todd Parr! Todd wants every kid to feel just how special they truly are, and that’s why we’re celebrating #BeWhoYouAreDay on September 30. With over 50 books published, Todd works hard to celebrate inclusivity and diversity in a kid-friendly way.
Todd’s newest book, Be Who You Are is a perfect book to share the bold message that being different is good. And being different is something that should be celebrated! With his signature bright, bold colors and empowering messages, this is an adorable story for the whole family.
I love Todd’s books – they make great read alouds for storytime and are perfect for reading one-on-one. I think it’s so important for kids to hear that differences are good, that being yourself is exactly how who you should be. And with the bright colors, the illustrations are always engaging for kids. In fact, I’ve included Todd Parr’s The Family Book in my 36 Titles for Babies & Toddlers: Social Justice, Equality, and Diversity. Todd’s focus on diversity in all his books makes them some of my favorite titles to suggest for families.
So how can you celebrate #BeWhoYouAreDay? Head on over to Todd Parr’s website for all sorts of fun! Tune in at 10AM PDT for the Live Skype event from Todd Parr himself. Plus, the website also includes coloring pages, a certificate of participation for kids. Make sure to fill out the sweepstakes for classroom copies of some of Todd’s books!
Make sure to share what you’re doing to celebrate #BeWhoYouAreDay on social media. Check out Little Brown Books for Young Readers’ Instagram account (@LittleBrownYoungReaders) which Todd is taking over for the day!
