It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? 8/3/2020
Last Week
This week I read the YA debut, My Summer of Love and Misfortune by Lindsay Wong. The publishers describe it as Crazy Rich Asians meets Love & Gelato. Ivy is sent to Beijing to stay with her extended family after a difficult start to her summer. It is there that she comes to terms with both her Chinese and American cultures and what she plans to do in the future.
I also started A Wish in the Dark by Christina Soontornvat and am loving it already! Set in a “Thai-inspired fantasy world” and the author’s twist on “Les Miserables,” A Wish In the Dark has an intriguing plot and I’m invested in the characters in just a few chapters. I’m super excited to see where this one goes!
Reading List for Week of 8/3/2020
I’ve still got You Should See Me In a Crown by Leah Johnson and the cover just makes me smile. I can’t wait to start this one next! Plus, I just heard Julie Abe speak at the Middle Ground Book Fest and I’ve got to read Eva Evergreen, Semi-Magical Witch. And finally, maybe I’ll even get to More Than Just a Pretty Face by Syed M. Masood which also looks great!
