It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? 7/13/2020
Last Week
I did it! I’m finally out of my reading slump! I contribute my reading slump to working long hours for the library and being utterly exhausted from making decisions that keep changing every single day!
This week I finished Fountains of Silence by Ruta Sepetys – a YA historical fiction novel set after the Spanish Civil War. Ruta does an amazing job researching her historical fiction novels and this one was no different as she wove history into her own fictional story. It was beautiful and heart breaking and based during a time period I honestly knew nothing about.
I also read A Place at the Table by Saadia Faruqi and Laura Shovan about two girls navigating middle school, searching for new friends, and managing life at home! I read the ARC and I’m super excited to see the finished book which will include recipes! (I love any book that talks about food!)
And finally, I read Fly on the Wall by Remy Lai about 12 year old boy trying to prove to his family that he isn’t a baby anymore by traveling alone to spend time with his father. I love how Remy incorporates prose and graphic novel format together to create a book that is so fun to read!
Reading List for Week of 7/13/2020
Now, that I’ve got my reading mojo back, I’d like to read Dear Haiti, Love Alaine by Maika Moulite and Maritza Moulite, The Downstairs Girl by Stacey Lee, and Premeditated Myrtle by Elizabeth C. Bunce. I’m hoping that I can really try to put some time into reading every day and get through all three fo these titles this week!
