It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? 6/22/2020

Last Week

It was another busy, busy week and although I did get some reading done, I’m realizing that it’s just not enough. I tend to get much crabbier without reading on a regular basis, so this week, I plan on putting aside a little time every day to read.

This week, I strayed away from my reading list again. Sometimes, I’ve found that rather than picking up what I “have” to read, I need to reinvigorate myself with something I’m excited to read.

This week, I listened to three Dragon Masters chapter books for my summer reading book discussions – Rise of the Earth Dragon, Saving the Sun Dragon, and Secret of the Water Dragon all by Tracey West. These are all about 100 pages in length and took only 45 minutes to listen to! What I love to see is a fantasy series for young readers that is also diverse in nature.

I also read The Unicorn Whisperer by Dana Simpson for another book discussion later this summer. This one is going to be harder to discuss because rather than an overarching story, it’s more small vignettes, which make for a more difficult discussion. But, I loved that it fit with our summer reading theme and it’s a graphic novel , which I also love to promote.

The last complete book I read this week was 10 Things I Hate About Pinky by Sandhya Menon. This was an easy YA contemporary romance that was fun and distracting! I love the Dimple and Rishi universe, so it was fun to fall back into with familiar characters.

I’m also in the middle of Maya and the Rising Dark by Rena Barron, so I hope to finish that early this week.

Reading List for Week of 6/22/2020

I’m going to leave this week a little more open as far as what I plan to read. I think by deciding on a whim this week, I’ll feel more inclined to want to read, rather than feeling like I have to read!
