Books & Cooks Letter N: Nutmeg
This year I’m going to be combining two of my passions – cooking and kid lit for Books & Cooks! I’ll be bringing you great recipes based on spices of the alphabet that pair perfectly with kid lit books! Next up? The letter N and cozy nutmeg!
Spice: Nutmeg
I love what a little nutmeg in a recipe can do! I’m not fancy enough to actually buy nutmeg and grate it myself, but I do love the flavor. And because nutmeg is often paired with spices like cinnamon, I often think of it as a fall spice! But, if you’ve never tried it… add a sprinkle of nutmeg to Fettuccine Alfredo sauce. It gives it a little oomph!
Book Review: Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
I loved this book about a complete and utter nerd stretching her wings as a newly minted freshman in college. Without her twin sister by her side, will she fly or fall? It’s the perfect book to pair with a fall-themed recipe. Cath isn’t quite sure if she’s ready to leave the nest and worries about her dad, has an interesting roommate and a professor that’s out to get her passion for writing fanfic. This is definitely a must-read YA-college story of finding your voice. Just to be clear – this book has nothing at all to do with birds… I just started the comparison and it fit through the entire description!
Recipe: Apple and Oat Scones with Cinnamon and Nutmeg
This recipe is a must-try in the fall when the weather starts cooling down! Apples and cinnamon, nutmeg and oats – what’s not to love! It looks easy to do and sounds like the perfect fall breakfast or snack with a cup of tea!
During the month of April, I’ll be participating in the Blogging from A to Z April Challenge 2020. For my theme this year (Books & Cooks), I’ll be combing children’s books with cooking spices and including a recipe to bring the book into your very own kitchen! I love to cook and read, so I thought this would be a fun way to combine two of my passions. I’m getting hungry just thinking about it! Let’s dig in! And if you want to see what I’ve done in the past, check out the past few years – 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019!
