Slice of Life Day 31: So Much More Difficult

This year’s Slice of Life Challenge took me a lot more effort than last year’s challenge. I think partly because I shared a lot of great stories last year, but also because of everything that’s going on this year. What with working from home, managing staff in turbulent times, the unknown, and the level of stress and exhaustion has made for a very difficult March.

April’s not looking great as all libraries in Pennsylvania are closed indefinitely. Managing week by week is one thing. Looking into the future to a month with staff working from home, trying to keep aspects of a library up and running, like ordering, cataloging, and processing is going to be extremely difficult. My fingers are crossed that by June and summer reading, we’ll be able to maybe open and get back to normal. But, who knows right now? Here’s hoping there will be ways I can ensure that the community realizes just how important our library is when we finally get to re-open again.

What this challenge will help me do is remember because right now it’s hard. But the days will get easier and my memories will fade, and my posts over will be here forever. And I’m really looking forward to reading them again in a year or two.

So here’s to a complicated Slice of Life Challenge for 2020! Stay safe and wash your hands.

This is my second year participating in the Slice of Life Challenge. I’ll be posting brief posts that show a glimpse of my life in story-format. A slice of my life as a librarian and blogger that I hope you enjoy!
