Slice of Life Day 11: Spring Has Sprung
I bet there are things that you do in your daily life that happen so frequently that you’re almost on auto-pilot. I know I do and one of those things is pulling into the driveway. My partner and I live on a very busy road with a side street intersection right before my driveway. Every time I pull into the driveway, I’m checking my review mirror to make sure the car behind me realizes that yes, I’m using my blinker for a reason. And no, it’s not to turn onto the side street.
But the other day, I pulled into my parking space and looked ahead. Rather than stressing about traffic and my endless to-do list, I looked forward. And there, in the yard is a daffodil sprouting – bright cheery flowers and everything. It’s completely surrounded by grass, hanging out in the middle of the yard.
And I turned off my car and just sat. I realized that every day I’m missing those tiny little moments that force us to slow down and appreciate them. I’m excited that spring has arrived, I can’t wait for even more flowers to begin blooming, and for more sunlight and longer days.
This is my little reminder to my readers, to take a moment wherever you are and pause and take a deep breath. Center yourself on what you’re doing in the moment and appreciated the world around you.
This is my second year participating in the Slice of Life Challenge. I’ll be posting brief posts that show a glimpse of my life in story-format. A slice of my life as a librarian and blogger that I hope you enjoy!

Lovely – I love it when flowers surprise us with their beauty! Enjoy spring – we are not there yet but it is coming.

It was such a bright ray of sunshine amidst all the stress over coronavirus planning for my library!
