A Year of Meaningful Reads
Brightly has created a year-long book club for families based on different themes each month called A Year of Meaningful Reads. What’s great about the way Brightly, a Penguin Random House initiative, is that each month there are titles for all different age groups.
January’s theme was kindness, and you have a few more days to jump into February’s theme of equality. Titles range from nonfiction and biographies to realistic fiction, science fiction and include other formats like graphic novels too! As I mentioned, books are broken down by age groups:
- 0-2
- 3-5
- 6-8
- 9-12
- 13+
Each age group has multiple titles to choose from making this an extremely flexible book club. Families can choose what strikes their fancy. What I love is that the books are recently published and quality literature for kids. Plus, they’re also extremely accessible and interesting! And, even though Brightly was created by Penguin Random House, they highlight books from all different publishers looking for the just-right books for their posts.
I’m curious to see what other themes are selected for the rest of the year. I already loved January and February! Now, I’m thinking about doing something similar on my blog too – a family-style book club! It’s truly a great idea and one that will give me a bunch of great new reads for my TBR list!
