One, Two, Three Dim Sum: A Mandarin-English Counting Book

Review:

I love board books for their simplicity, but it takes a lot of work to master it. One, Two, Three Dim Sum combines bright colors, basic vocabulary and simple images to create a fun, multicultural book for little ones. As kids get older, they can count along with the book and taste the delicious food.

Once in a while, I’ll see a board book with English and Spanish text, but rarely do you find a board book with a different language and culture. I was disappointed to find no way to understand pronunciation of the Mandarin words, which would have helped me immensely. Although, sharing the Chinese characters allows children to see what a different alphabet can look like. I also love that the numbers are paired with food – most of which are very common, while there are a few I’ve never tried which is fun too!

My Take:

This is an adorable multicultural board book for little ones and their dim sum loving parents! Bright colors, large text, and simple images are sure to attract your little one’s eye, while your stomach growls for some delicious bites!
