4 Picture Books About Garbage Trucks
Have you ever seen those videos online of the little kids waiting with bated breath for the garbage truck to come down the street? They’re absolutely adorable! The kids are usually so excited to see the sanitation workers and they’ll often stop to say hi to the kids before continuing on their route. That’s what inspired this quick list – 4 Picture Books About Garbage Trucks.
Personally, I’m fascinated with the way things have changed. They used to have (usually) men pull your trash can to the truck and empty it. Now our trucks come through with an arm extender that picks up the can and dumps it straight into the truck. The technology is fascinating to me!
Tomorrow, I plan on posting a few titles about recycling as its part of many people’s trash pick-up. Although due to the current political climate, I know there are some locations that no longer pick up residents’ recyclables. Small town and rural America don’t have enough homes to warrant companies picking up recycling, because it can be so expensive to take care of. It’s a real shame because there’s isn’t always a ton that an individual can do, but recycling is usually easy.

I’m shocked that you didn’t include Buster the Little Garbage Truck, the story of a little garbage truck who is afraid of loud noises–an occupational hazard if you are a garbage truck! But Buster learns to overcome his fears. This was a favorite in my children’s bookstore in Southern CA! (I will admit, Trashy Town is THE BEST garbage truck story!)
