It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? 8/26/19
Last Week
This is the week I’ve finally slowed down. I finished Sal and Gabi Break the Universe by Carlos Hernandez, which was amazing! I really love that Rick Riordan is raising the voices of multicultural authors to expose kids to folklore from around the world. I really enjoyed that at some points, I had no idea what the Spanish actually translated to, but Carlos did an amazing job of making sure there were enough context clues to understand. I was fully invested in the story and am interested to see what happens next.
I read two other romance books that are so quick that I finished each in an evening after work. Sometimes, I need a break from middle grade and romance fiction is so completely different it gives my brain a break.
I also started My Life as an Ice Cream Sandwich by Ibi Zoboi which is interesting and exciting and I’m curious to see what direction it goes. I’m less than a quarter of the way through the story now, so there’s a lot more room for the characters to grow and change.
Reading List for Week of 8/26/19
This week is going to be interesting, I want to get the house cleaned up and I’m heading out to my parents’ for the holiday weekend, so we’ll see how much I get to. My list right now includes:

- Focused by Alyson Gerber
- Orange for the Sunsets by Tina Athaide
