9 Picture Books About Gardens
It’s Saturday in late July which means I’ll be spending much of my day working on my garden beds. I have a flower garden in front of my house (that is currently being taken over by weeds) and a vegetable garden that runs along the side of my house filled with delicious treats that I need to harvest. Check out these 9 picture books all about gardens with your little one! Or if you’re looking for a storytime theme, check my garden theme out as well!
Even if you don’t have a large piece of land, there is so much you can do with a small container or window box – especially with kids! My nephew has grown up gardening with my mom and will run over to the garden and grab green beans, tomatoes, and other fruits and vegetables and eat them right off the plant! And it’s awesome because you know everything you grow is organic and free of pesticides! Plus gardening is perfect for STEM projects and to teach kids about responsibility for watering the plants they grew. It’s a win-win all the way around! If you’re looking for even more excuses for gardening with your family and its benefits, check out this article from PBS.
