Summer of Nonfiction: Picture Books
There are so many nonfiction picture books out there, I was feeling a little daunted by selecting just a few to highlight on this series. I tried to find a wide variety of different types of books but steered clear of picture book biographies because I already created that list earlier in the summer! These are just a few of the many, many titles that are available for your curious reader!
- Bonkers About Beetles by Owen Davey
- Drawn from Nature by Helen Ahpornsiri
- Flying Frogs and Walking Fish: Leaping Lemurs, Tumbling Toads, Jet-Propelled Jellyfish, and More Surprising Ways That Animals Move by Steve Jenkins
- Fur, Feather, Fin—All of Us Are Kin by Diane Lang
- Grand Canyon by Jason Chin
- Hey-Ho, to Mars We’ll Go!: A Space-Age Version of “the Farmer in the Dell” by Susan Lendroth
- How to Be an Elephant by Katherine Roy
- Let the Children March by Monica Clark-Robinson
- Locomotive by Brian Floca
- A Rock Is Lively by Dianna Hutts Aston
- This is the Nest that Robin Built by Denise Fleming
- Water Land: Land and Water Forms Around the World by Christy Hale
I’m so excited to try something new this summer! I’m going to be highlighting nonfiction titles for a variety of age groups and in different styles. I plan on creating lists for different age groups – picture books, middle grade, and young adult. Plus, I’d like to take a look at format as well – books filled with facts, narrative non-fiction, and graphic novel format as well.
