There’s Only One You

There's Only One You

Synopsis: “This feel-good book reassures kids that, whoever and whatever they are, it’s awesome being YOU! Expertly written to include all kinds of children and families, it embraces the beauty in a range of physical types, personalities, and abilities. Kids will love discovering and recognizing themselves in these pages—and they’ll feel proud to see their special qualities acknowledged. Adorable illustrations by Rosie Butcher show a diverse community that many will find similar to their own.”

Review: A sweet story about celebrating everything that makes you unique! In books like this, I think it’s easy to look at the diversity and start thinking, “Oh, I wish they included this or that!” But to me, what’s more important is that they included so much diversity with a specific look at disability. In the story you’ll find a child in a wheelchair, using crutches, and a child wearing hearing aids or cochlear implants (it was hard to tell). There was also a wide variety of skin tones, plus cultures and different family make-ups all celebrating that each part of you make you who you are. And that’s something to celebrate!
