Blogging From A to Z Challenge – Trans Characters
Although I included trans characters on my Queer Book List earlier this month. I felt that I should highlight more titles with trans characters for the Letter “T” today. So here are twelve middle grade and young adult titles. And I know there are a lot of white characters in these books, but it’s hard to find intersection diverse titles in the kidlit and yalit world. Maybe one day we’ll just have kids books and we won’t have to search so hard for diversity.
- George by Alex Gino
- Gracefully Grayson by Ami Polonsky
- Lily and Dunkin by Donna Gephart
- The Other Boy by M.G. Hennessey
- Zenobia July by Lisa Bunker
- Almost Perfect by Brian Katcher
- Beautiful Music for Ugly Children by Kirstin Cronn-Mills
- Beyond Magenta: Transgender Teens Speak Out by Susan Kuklin
- Freakboy by Kristin Elizabeth Clarke
- I Am J by Cris Beam
- Parrotfish by Ellen Wittlinger
- Wandering Son by Takako Shimura
I’m spending the month of April promoting diversity in children and young adult literature as part of the Blogging from A to Z Challenge. Stop by every day for a new list of titles! Also, check out other bloggers who are participating by heading over at the Blogging From A to Z website!
