Blogging From A to Z Challenge – Poverty
Poverty, like all aspects of a person’s life can look very differently. I hope these nine middle grade and young adults titles will provide even just the smallest peek into what it can be like for kids and teens experiencing poverty. You can also take a look at my Diverse Titles: Homelessness book list for additional titles that would work for this topic.
- The Benefits of Being an Octopus by Ann Braden
- Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell
- Front Desk by Kelly Yang
- How to Steal a Dog by Barbara O’Connor
- In Real Life by Cory Doctrow and Jen Wang
- Okay For Now by Gary D. Schmidt
- On the Come Up by Angie Thomas
- Towers Falling by Jewell Parker Rhodes
- Tyrell by Coe Booth
I’m spending the month of April promoting diversity in children and young adult literature as part of the Blogging from A to Z Challenge. Stop by every day for a new list of titles! Also, check out other bloggers who are participating by heading over at the Blogging From A to Z website!

I love your theme for this challenge. Diversity is definitely important, but I’ve honestly never thought of it connected to kidlit. I don’t have kids though, so maybe that’s why.
Found you through AtoZ.
