Blogging From A to Z Challenge – Foster Care
Today completes the first week of the Blogging from A to Z Challenge. So far I’ve created 11 book lists and am looking forward to creating a lot more throughout the month. Today’s focus is on the letter “F” and so I thought the best choice would be to offer a selection of titles about foster care. As with anything, everyone will have a different experience and I hope that this collection of titles will share a diverse look at kids in the foster care system.
- The Great Gilly Hopkins by Katherine Paterson
- The War That Saved My Life by Kimberly Brubaker Bradley
- Locomotion by Jacqueline Woodson
- Three Pennies by Melanie Crowder
- Orbiting Jupiter by Gary D. Schmidt
- One for the Murphys by Lynda Mullaly Hunt
- Pictures of Hollis Woods by Patricia Reilly Giff
- Greetings From Witness Protection! by Jake Burt
- Waiting To Forget by Sheila Kelly Welch
If you’re looking for more titles featuring characters in the foster care system, check out the list I created for National Foster Care Month.
I’m spending the month of April promoting diversity in children and young adult literature as part of the Blogging from A to Z Challenge. Stop by every day for a new list of titles! Also, check out other bloggers who are participating by heading over at the Blogging From A to Z website!
