Blogging From A to Z Challenge – Biracial Characters
Today I’m going to focus on providing a list of books with biracial characters. I tried very hard to find books that shared a variety of different experiences and from different cultural backgrounds. It’s not always easy- especially if you’re looking for a character who isn’t half white. Most characters I found are half white and half something else, but rarely do you see, for example, half Black and half Japanese. Hopefully, you’ll find some new titles with biracial characters that you’ll find interesting.
- The Blossoming Universe of Violet Diamond by Brenda Woods
- Brendan Buckley’s Universe and Everything in It by Sundee T. Frazier
- Unusual Chickens for the Exceptional Poultry Farmer by Kelly Jones
- How Ali Ferguson Saved Houdini by Elen Caldecott
- The Whole Story of Half a Girl by Veera Hiranandani
- Bird by Chrystal Chan
- Blended by Sharon Draper
- Operation Redwood by S. Terrell French
- Full Cicada Moon by Marilyn Hilton
- Mexican Whiteboy by Matt de la Peña
- The Girl from Everywhere by Heidi Heilig
- Shadowshaper by Daniel José Older
I’m spending the month of April promoting diversity in children and young adult literature as part of the Blogging from A to Z Challenge. Stop by every day for a new list of titles! Also, check out other bloggers who are participating by heading over at the Blogging From A to Z website!
