Blogging From A to Z Challenge – Anxiety
It’s the first official day of the Blogging From A to Z Challenge and I’ve got a few areas of diversity I want to focus on. Anxiety affects everyone differently and also can manifest with other mental illnesses, stress, or other factors. This means everyone’s story with anxiety is different, but that doesn’t mean kids and teens shouldn’t be able to see themselves in the books they read. Here’s a quick peek at just a few books with an anxiety theme.
- Some Kind of Happiness by Claire Legrand
- Umbrella Summer by Lisa Graff
- Starfish by Akemi Dawn Bowman
- The Upside of Unrequited by Becky Albertalli
- Queen of Geeks by Jen Wilde
- Freaking Out: Real-life Stories About Anxiety by Polly Wells
Check out the other diverse lists for the letter “A” – Asian Protagonists and Adoption!
I’m spending the month of April promoting diversity in children and young adult literature as part of the Blogging from A to Z Challenge. Stop by every day for a new list of titles! Also, check out other bloggers who are participating by heading over at the Blogging From A to Z website!
