Top Ten Tuesday: Standalone Books That Need a Sequel
I’m not a huge fan of trilogies or series, mainly because I’m reading books as they are being published and when the sequel finally appears on the shelf, I’ve forgotten everything about the first book! That being said, I’d love to see either a sequel, prequel, or crossover title in the same setting or with a minor character as the lead for these titles!
- The Adventures of a Girl Called Bicycle by Christian Uss
- The First Rule of Punk by Celia C. Pérez
- The Girl Who Drank the Moon by Kelly Barnhill
- Ivy Aberdeen’s Letter to the World by Ashley Herring Blake
- Merci Suárez Changes Gears by Meg Medina
- Orphan Island by Laurel Snyder
- Race to the Bottom of the Sea by Lindsay Eagar
- A Rambler Steals Home by Carter Higgins
- The Remarkable Journey of Coyote Sunrise by Dan Gemeinhart
- Three Pennies by Melanie Crowder

Bicycle!!! I suspect a sequel would not have the same charm of the original, though. My favorite book of 2018! Are you going to KU’s Children’s Lit Conference this year?

Yes, The Girl Who Drank the Moon definitely needs a sequel.
