It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? 1/21/19

Last Week

I finally was able to get some reading in this week. My favorite part of the week is Saturday morning after I’ve walked and fed Aria. I’ll grab some juice or tea and head up to the office to sit in my big comfy chair-and-a-half with a blanket and just read. The house is quiet, Aria is snuggling and it’s amazing!

This week I was busy – I finished up The Land of Yesterday by K.A. Reynolds, a close-up look at grief and just creepy enough to keep you turning the pages hoping for an (almost) happy ending. I followed it up with something much lighter – The Doughnut Fix by Jessie Janowitz. You can check out the review that I wrote over the weekend.

I was also able to read The Miscalculations of Lightning Girl by Stacy McAnulty. This is the story of a homeschooled math genius whose grandmother forces to middle school and her trials and tribulations being around people her own age. It was an awesome story and although I was getting really upset with the author about one aspect, she didn’t let me down and I thank her for that. (I can’t say anything more for fear of ruining the story.) Check out my weekend review now!

Finally, I ended the weekend with Everlasting Nora by Marie Miranda Cruz. This was a fascinating look at poverty in a country I know very little about. But more than that it’s about family both blood-related and found who help you when you need it most. I haven’t reviewed this one yet, but I’m so glad I picked it up this weekend.

Reading List for Week of 1/21/19

I’m so happy that I finished four middle grade novels this past week. I’m hoping to clear up my desk and Kindle but reading these four titles as well!

  • Inkling by Kenneth Oppel
  • The Secret of Dinswood by Ellen Alexander
  • The Storm Keeper’s Island by Catherine Doyle
  • Sweep: The Story of a Girl and Her Monster by Jonathan Auxier

What are your reading plans this week?

Your Saturday mornings sound right up my alley. This weekend my husband and daughter went away on a trip and I spent the entire weekend in a reclining chair in my living room, reading, reading, and reading more. It was wonderful! I liked Lighting Girl, too. Happy reading this week.
