It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? 1/14/19
Last Week
Have you ever had one of those weeks? You know the ones I mean when you feel like you’ve gotten hit over and over with things you have no control over?
It was one of those weeks – my car was in the shop for a major repair that cost a lot of money. When I finally got my car back after a week, that evening my battery wouldn’t start and it went back to the shop overnight.
We had some painting done at the library and it was a much bigger issue that we first thought. They ended up having to use an oil-based primer that was so potent, staff had to leave work early. Plus, a meeting I was stressing over for quite a long time finally happened. All went well, but the pressure leading up to it was a bit much.
So overall, it was an absolutely crazy week. I’m trying to put things into better perspective and stress out less, but sometimes these things overwhelm!
As for reading, I started reading The Land of Yesterday by K.A. Reynolds, which is the first book of the MG at Heart Book Club for 2019! I’m about half way through and it reminds me a little of Coraline in this fantastical world, but paired with heart-breaking grief and a young girl trying her best to be brave. I’m really excited to see where it goes. And that’s all I’ve read – it’s been an emotionally exhausting week and I just didn’t have the energy to read.
Reading List for Week of 1/14/19
I’m hoping I spend some more time focused on reading this week. I’ve got a TON of books checked out of the library hanging out in my office right now!
- The Doughnut Fix by Jessie Janowitz
- Everlasting Nora by Marie Miranda Cruz
- Inkling by Kenneth Oppel
- The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing by Marie Kondo
- The Miscalculations of Lightning Girl by Stacy McAnulty
- The Secret of Dinswood by Ellen Alexander
- The Storm Keeper’s Island by Catherine Doyle
- Sweep: The Story of a Girl and Her Monster by Jonathan Auxier
It’s a lot to choose from. But hopefully, that allows me to pick and choose what makes me excited in the hopes that I’ll read more! What are you reading this week?
