Resolutions for 2019

I love the idea of setting goals and resolutions for 2019, but I’m one of those people, who do really well for a short while and then by the end of the year, I don’t actually remember what my goals were!

I’m going to set a few specific goals this year and as one of them, I’m hoping to create clear steps each month to reach my goals. Let’s see how this pans out in 2019. As for what I accomplished last year, check out yesterday’s post about my Reflections on 2018.

Blog-Focused

Last year my blog finally got the face-lift I’ve been thinking about for two years, plus due to self-hosting I was able to set up my blog Facebook page, Instagram account (with analytics), plus just at the end of the year I created a monthly newsletter (sign up by clicking on the menu and entering your email in the blue box)) with additional content you won’t find on the blog!

This year my goal is to gain followers, I’ve been getting steadier numbers, but have been mainly focused on children’s librarians. My goal is to reach out to teachers and more specifically to parents through my blog, but also through other social media such as Pinterest. My hope is that by providing a variety of content, more people will be interested in what I have to say about my passion for libraries!

I’d also love to look into a little monetization of my blog – not too crazy! I don’t want my content covered in advertisements, but I do spend a lot of time working on this content and it costs some money to keep it up and running, so being able to get a little money out of the blog would be awesome!

I’d love to feel this calm when I write for my blog… maybe that will be one of my goals!

Reading Life

I don’t like putting too much pressure on myself as a reader because then I start disliking what I’m reading. This year though, I want to give myself the freedom to read widely. I know, I know, this is an extremely vague goal, but I’m still trying to figure out what this means.

My goal is to read all ages and genres, push myself outside my comfort zone of middle grade realistic fiction and besides read the books – actually talk about them here! I mean, that’s why I write, right? My goal is to review most of the titles I read this year, besides just throwing up a rating on Goodreads.

What are your resolutions for 2019? And the more important question, how do you stay accountable? Check out my post next month for concrete steps on how I plan on starting to implement these goals in my life!
