#blogbookaday: The Crocodile and the Dentist
Summary:
“Oh, it’s time to go to the dentist! Crocodile has a toothache, but he’s afraid of the dentist. The dentist wants to help, but he’s afraid of Crocodile. Never fear! Bestselling author-illustrator Taro Gomi cleverly and humorously presents both sides of the story, as the crocodile and the dentist learn to be brave and face their fears—of what might happen in that dentist’s chair and of each other!” (Taken from Goodreads)
Review:
The crocodile has to go to the dentist for a toothache – but he’s scared! (And so is the dentist!) Taro Gomi uses the same text for both characters and creates a very funny story as the dentist and the crocodile learn to be brave!
Personal Reaction:
I loved how the text on each page was the same, but used for two different characters! The crocodile was afraid of the dentist and vice versa! This would be a funny introduction to a visit to the dentist paired with other more realistic books. Taro Gomi is a genius author and illustrator, so if you haven’t seen his work, definitely check it out.

This is a new idea I’m trying on my blog this year that was inspired by @donalynbooks and @heisereads – to provide a brief review of a picture book every day of 2018. You’ll get a brief summary of the story, a review of the content, illustrations and theme, my personal reaction to the book and all the pertinent publication information! Enjoy!

Got lots of giggles both times when I read this book! The text lent itself really well to a print awareness literacy message.
