#blogbookaday: Run Wild
Summary:
“‘Hey, you! Sky’s blue!’ a girl shouts as she runs by the window of a boy bent over his digital device. Intrigued, the boy runs out after her, leaving his shoes (and phone) behind, and into a world of sunshine, dewey grass, and warm sand. Filled with the pleasures of being alive in the natural world, Run Wild is an exquisite and kid-friendly reminder of how wonderful life can be beyond doors and screens. ” (Taken from Goodreads)
Review:
A reminder to enjoy the great outdoors in all weather and landscapes – look down at the ground to find bugs and slugs rather than at a digital device. Dive into the cool water of a lake rather than into a television marathon. And allow your feet to feel the Earth beneath them, rather than just the carpet.
Personal Reaction:
I loved the way the text and illustrations made me want to get outside for a hike through the woods. I loved the illustrations a mixture of watercolors and colored pencil to create a wild feel – no straight lines with colors that bleed across the page. After this story, the whole family will want to, “Run. Run. Wild. Wild.” And what’s not to love about that?

This is a new idea I’m trying on my blog this year that was inspired by @donalynbooks and @heisereads – to provide a brief review of a picture book every day of 2018. You’ll get a brief summary of the story, a review of the content, illustrations and theme, my personal reaction to the book and all the pertinent publication information! Enjoy!
