#blogbookaday: Imagine!

Imagine

Summary:

“A wordless picture book about a visit to the museum and the power of art and imagination.

After passing a city museum many times, a boy finally decides to go in. He passes wall after wall of artwork until he sees a painting that makes him stop and ponder. Before long the painting comes to life and an afternoon of adventure and discovery changes how he sees the world ever after.” (Taken from Goodreads)

Review:

In a wordless picture book, a young boy visits the Museum of Modern Art and as the paintings come to life, he spends an afternoon looking at his city in way he’s never done before. Even after the paintings are back in place, the boy looks at his own neighborhood differently after being inspired by the art museum.

Personal Reaction:

Raúl Colón is an amazingly talent storyteller and illustrator. He uses watercolor and color pencil to create textured, soft illustrations that tell a beautiful story. This would be the perfect story to share with kids before heading out to an art museum. Or if you happen to be able to go the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. I really enjoyed the inspiration and imagination of the young boy in this story. Kids could choose a piece of artwork that inspires them draw an adventure.

#blogbookaday (1)This is a new idea I’m trying on my blog this year that was inspired by @donalynbooks and @heisereads – to provide a brief review of a picture book every day of 2018. You’ll get a brief summary of the story, a review of the content, illustrations and theme, my personal reaction to the book and all the pertinent publication information! Enjoy!
