#blogbookaday: Sometimes Rain
Summary:
“Sometimes it rains, sometimes it snows, sometimes the sun shines, and sometimes the trees change color. But no matter what the seasons bring, there is lots of fun to be had! This lyrical exploration of the four seasons and all of the wonder that they bring is illustrated with vibrant watercolors.” (Taken from Goodreads)
Review:
A poetic look at the seasons and exploring the great outdoors filled with beautiful illustrations. Young children and their pets spend time watching wildlife, sledding, playing in a treehouse, jumping in leaves, and having a picnic.
Personal Reaction:
What first drew me to this book was the beautiful illustrations of the dog barking on the front cover. The dog’s voice is filled with sound and gorgeous imagery. I knew that I’d have to pick it up. On almost every page you’ll see these beautiful wind/sound images. They are absolutely beautiful and remind me a lot of Zentangles. The beautiful illustrations are paired with equally beautiful text. I love that the poetry of the text is combined with art and science to create a true exploration nature.

This is a new idea I’m trying on my blog this year that was inspired by @donalynbooks and @heisereads – to provide a brief review of a picture book every day of 2018. You’ll get a brief summary of the story, a review of the content, illustrations and theme, my personal reaction to the book and all the pertinent publication information! Enjoy!
