#blogbookaday: A Hippy-Hoppy Toad
Summary: “It’s hard to be a tiny toad minding your own business on a twig. First, a bird pecks at him… Then a bee buzzes… Then a dog barks… and so on. And each time the toad is surprised by a buzz, or a woof (or the toe of a sneaker!), he hops to a new location farther down the road. With fun sounds, clever rhymes, and an irresistible rhythm, this is the perfect story for sharing one-on-one or in a group.” (Taken from Goodreads)
Review: A hippy-hoppy toad goes on an unexpected adventure as he bounces from a twig to flower to grass to a shoe. There are animals and sounds and rhythm and rhyme in this fun read-aloud story!
Personal Reaction: I love books that have such an amazing rhythm they just beg to be read aloud. A Hippy-Hoppy Toad is a perfect read-aloud for storytime. I love titles that include parts that can be repeated by kids and “_______ said the toad” is the perfect refrain. With an unexpected ending, the toad’s eventful day ends in a very familiar place.

This is a new idea I’m trying on my blog this year that was inspired by @donalynbooks and @heisereads – to provide a brief review of a picture book every day of 2018. You’ll get a brief summary of the story, a review of the content, illustrations and theme, my personal reaction to the book and all the pertinent publication information! Enjoy!
