#blogbookaday: Eraser
Summary: “Eraser is always cleaning up everyone else’s mistakes. Except for Ruler and Pencil Sharpener, none of the other school supplies seem to appreciate her. They all love how sharp Pencil is and how Tape and Glue help everyone stick together. Eraser wants to create so that she can shine like the others. She decides to give it a try, but it’s not until the rubber meets the road that Eraser begins to understand a whole lot about herself.
Inspired by a school essay their daughter Kate wrote in the third grade, the author and illustrator behind Theodor Seuss Geisel Award–winner You Are (Not) Small have created a desktop drama about figuring out who you are, finding happiness, and the importance of second, third, and maybe even fourth chances.” (Taken from Goodreads)
Review: Eraser doesn’t think she’s a creator because all she does is clean up everyone else’s mistakes. But after meeting a bunch of first drafts on a journey to find herself, Eraser realizes that without her the rest of the school supplies can’t be their best!
Personal Reaction: This is a much-needed story in today’s world where kids put pressure on themselves to be perfect in everything they do. Usually, to the fault of trying something new for fear of failure. Learning that mistakes and re-dos are a fact of life is an important lesson that kids need to learn and this story opens the dialogue in a fun and easy way!

This is a new idea I’m trying on my blog this year that was inspired by @donalynbooks and @heisereads – to provide a brief review of a picture book every day of 2018. You’ll get a brief summary of the story, a review of the content, illustrations and theme, my personal reaction to the book and all the pertinent publication information! Enjoy!
