#blogbookaday: The King of Space
Summary: “Rex may seem to be your average mini galactic citizen, working on his parents’ moog farm and going to school, but he’s plotting to become…
THE KING OF SPACE!
With aliens, warbots, dung-blasters, and more, Johnny Duddle takes us on an unforgettable intergalactic adventure.” (Taken from Goodreads)
Review: Rex has big plans… he wants to be the King of Space! And with a little help from some unwitting friends, things get a little out of control as the entire Galatic Alliance shows up at Rex’s doorstep.
Personal Reaction: This is a high-adventure, space story that high-energy kids will love! I really loved how Rex is a typical kid with parents who bug him to do his chores, goes to school and has big plans, the only difference is that Rex’s plans come to fruition and he ends up needing a little help! I also love how this book is like a precursor to graphic novels with speech bubbles, and blocks of illustrations that work perfectly for this story! It’s a great way to teach kids how to read graphic novels and how to follow the story through the panels.

This is a new idea I’m trying on my blog this year that was inspired by @donalynbooks and @heisereads – to provide a brief review of a picture book every day of 2018. You’ll get a brief summary of the story, a review of the content, illustrations and theme, my personal reaction to the book and all the pertinent publication information! Enjoy!
