#blogbookaday: Arnold the Brave

Arnold the Brave.jpgSummary:  “Meet Arnold the Brave — a SUPER sheep! Most sheep spend their days grazing in the meadows. But Arnold is not like most sheep. He jogs. He boxes. He does push-ups and pull-ups. While the other sheep find his antics humorous, he knows that a super sheep must stay conditioned and in shape! You never know where danger lurks, and one day he gets put to the test! With just a little teeny-tiny help from his best friend, Milo the mole, all the sheep will come to realize how super and brave Arnold really is when a wolf enters their meadow…” (Taken from Amazon)

Review: Arnold doesn’t just munch on grass in the meadow like other sheep – he’s training hard to protect the herd! He gets a little help from his best friend Milo the mole (but only a little help, because super sheep don’t need much help!). The herd doesn’t take him seriously, until a wolf comes into the meadow… will Arnold be brave and strong in the face of diversity?

Personal Reaction: This was a cute story that translated well from German – not only about underestimating Arnold, but never judging that being small means you can’t be brave and strong! Kids will love keeping an eye on Milo throughout the whole story and cheering with the rest of the herd when the wolf is defeated!

#blogbookaday (1)This is a new idea I’m trying on my blog this year that was inspired by @donalynbooks and @heisereads – to provide a brief review of a picture book every day of 2018. You’ll get a brief summary of the story, a review of the content, illustrations and theme, my personal reaction to the book and all the pertinent publication information! Enjoy!
