#blogbookaday: The Hugely-Wugely Spider

Hugely-Wugely Spider.jpgSummary:  “We’ve all heard of the Itsy-Bitsy Spider right? But have you heard of the the Hugely-Wugely Spider? He’s just like Itsy-Bitsy except he’s a little–no–a lot bigger.
The Hugely-Wugely Spider went up the water spout, well not really, because he wasn’t invited by the other spiders. And maybe because his size was bit of an issue . . . But that didn’t stop him from trying. The Itsy-Bitsy Spider and his friends get into a bind when down comes the rain and threatens to wash them out, and only the Hugely-Wugely Spider can save them. With his quick thinking and huge thorax, Hugely-Wugely clogs the drain and saves the day.” (Taken from Goodreads)

Review: A fun take on the popular children’s song The Itsy-Bitsy Spider. The hugely-wugely spider is too big to fit up the water spout with his itsy-bitsy friends, but when the rain start falling, he saves the day by blocking the water from running down the spout. And a new version of the song is born!

Personal Reaction: I haven’t seen many different versions of The Itsy-Bitsy Spider song, but this one was super cute and really funny. I think kids will enjoy the huge spider’s attitude and it can be read with lots of emotion, which kids also love. Pastel drawings perfectly fit this well-known song and an unexpected hero offers a great, new version!

#blogbookaday (1)This is a new idea I’m trying on my blog this year that was inspired by @donalynbooks and @heisereads – to provide a brief review of a picture book every day of 2018. You’ll get a brief summary of the story, a review of the content, illustrations and theme, my personal reaction to the book and all the pertinent publication information! Enjoy!
