#blogbookaday: Bub

Bub.jpgSummary:  “A little monster, caught in the middle of a boisterous monster family, tries to find a way to be seen in this whimsically sweet and quirky picture book from the author of Henny and Peddles.
For Bub, it’s not easy being the middle child in his little monster family—especially such a noisy and busy one: Maw and Paw can be very loud, his big sister Bernice is good at everything, and everyone has to pay attention to The Baby. No one has time for Bub. But the day comes when Bub decides to take charge, and suddenly things change in a very magical little monster way! What happens next keeps his family guessing, until Bub sees that it might not be so bad being in the middle, after all.” (Taken from Goodreads)

Review: Bub’s the middle child of a monster family and life is rough – his real name is Bob, but no one listen’s to him, his parents are arguing over his little sisters’s names, and his big sister is good at pretty much everything. When Bub decides to make a change his family realizes that it just isn’t the same without him!

Personal Reaction: This would make a great book for a child who recently has become a new middle child and a great conversation starter for what to expect when a new baby enters the household. Bub is frustrated by his family and just wants things to go better and with the help of a little magic and conversation, his family finally listens to him. Kids will definitely appreciate, Bub’s need for more control over his own life and find his place within his family and how he’s finally able to do so without actually running away from home.

#blogbookaday (1)This is a new idea I’m trying on my blog this year that was inspired by @donalynbooks and @heisereads – to provide a brief review of a picture book every day of 2018. You’ll get a brief summary of the story, a review of the content, illustrations and theme, my personal reaction to the book and all the pertinent publication information! Enjoy!
