#blogbookaday: Flight School
Summary: “Little Penguin has the soul of an eagle, but he wasn’t built to soar. With irrepressible spirit, Penguin follows his dreams to flip, flap, fly! Even if he needs a little help with the technical parts, this penguin is ready to live on the wind.” (Taken from Goodreads)
Review: Penguin’s having trouble flying – he wants to feel the wind in his face, but his wings won’t take him to the skies. His teachers aren’t quite sure how to help him, until they come up with an idea to help Penguin realize his dream!
Personal Reaction: This is a great story to share at the beginning of the school year to talk about expectations, trying new things and creativity. It focuses on dreaming of something so big and figuring out how to reach that dream. I really liked that Penguin persevered even when his teachers doubted him, but in the end, it took their friendship and teamwork to make his dream a reality. All great lessons to create a strong classroom community.

This is a new idea I’m trying on my blog this year that was inspired by @donalynbooks and @heisereads – to provide a brief review of a picture book every day of 2018. You’ll get a brief summary of the story, a review of the content, illustrations and theme, my personal reaction to the book and all the pertinent publication information! Enjoy!
