#blogbookaday: So You Want to Be a Rock Star
Summary: “Want to learn to play air guitar? Wear the coolest rock-star clothes? Sign your autograph for tons of fans? Then this is the book for you! Perfect for young fans of Rock Band or the Disney pop stars, So You Want to Be a Rock Star is the essential primer on everything rock ‘n’ roll. With a hilarious interactive text that encourages young readers to get up and move and perfectly retro illustrations that balance fantasies of stardom with real-world rocking out, this book has something for everyone—budding singers, musicians, and their parents, too!” (Taken from Goodreads)
Review: I thought this was such a fun book with a really interesting premise. You don’t normally see a fantasy of becoming a rock star in children’s picture books, where you normally see princess stories and adventure stories. And this is much more of a how-to book, rather than a story, but with an interactive style, kids are sure to let their imagination run wild and rock out!
Personal Reaction: I have the perfect reader in mind for this story – my nephew! He’s two and a half and has always loved to dance, but has recently started playing air guitar and air drums while listening to music (and it’s the cutest thing this aunt has ever seen)! I think I’ll be sharing this story with him the next time I visit!

This is a new idea I’m trying on my blog this year that was inspired by @donalynbooks and @heisereads – to provide a brief review of a picture book every day of 2018. You’ll get a brief summary of the story, a review of the content, illustrations and theme, my personal reaction to the book and all the pertinent publication information! Enjoy!
