Top Ten Tuesday: Books You’d Mash Together

mashups.png

  1. American Panda by Gloria Chao and When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon
Two young women searching for where they fit into the world and not seeing the future their parents want for them. I can completely see these characters fitting together in the same college setting and maybe even being friends.
  2. The Gentleman’s Guid to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee and Caraval by Stephanie Garber
Imagine Monty being released in Caraval… it would be absolutely insane and I think that’s why I like the idea of Lee’s characters in Garber’s setting.
  3. Shadowshaper by Daniel José Older and A Fierce and Subtle Poison by Samantha Mabry
Both of these hold a sense of the fantastical and I’d love to see the curse in Mabry’s story affect Sierra’s Brooklyn.
  4. The Science of Breakable Things by Tae Keller and The Thing About Jellyfish by Ali Benjamin
Both protagonists are striving to answer life’s tough questions with science in these two middle grade stories and I can see them intertwining very easily.
  5. A Rambler Steals Home by Carter Higgins and A Snicker of Magic by Natalie Lloyd
I can so clearly see the settings in both of these middle grade titles and could even see them inter-lapping a little, borrow a little magic from Lloyd’s book as the characters search for home and what it means to them.

I first thought this was going to really difficult, but I really liked the ideas of characters popping up in another story I loved so much. What books would you mash together?
