#blogbookaday: Shark Nate-O
Summary: “Nate loves sharks. He reads shark books every day, watches sharks on TV, and talks about them nonstop. He even likes to pretend he’s a shark wherever he goes! However, there is one small problem. . . .
Nate can’t swim.
When his older brother points this out, Nate works hard to overcome his fears and learn how to blow bubbles, use a kickboard, and finally swim without help, as quickly and as gracefully as a shark. Will he be able to beat his brother in a swim tryout and get his bite back? Kids will love this jawsome book complete with vibrant and whimsical art and a list of shark facts in the back!” (Taken from Goodreads)
Review: Although I didn’t get a chance to review this last week during Shark Week, this book about sharks and learning how to swim is to perfect to pass up! Nate loves everything about sharks, but he can’t swim and even worse? His brother’s on the swim team, named the Sharks! So Nate begins swim lessons to learn to swim as fast as a shark, but can he do it?
Personal Reaction: This book reminds me of a number of kids that I’ve worked with who know absolutely everything about their favorite topic! But what I loved is that this is also a great introduction into the world of swimming and swim lessons that would be perfect for a little one who might be a little nervous about what to expect when trying to swim!

This is a new idea I’m trying on my blog this year that was inspired by @donalynbooks and @heisereads – to provide a brief review of a picture book every day of 2018. You’ll get a brief summary of the story, a review of the content, illustrations and theme, my personal reaction to the book and all the pertinent publication information! Enjoy!

When the characters remind us of actual children, you know it’s a good book!
