#blogbookaday: Professional Crocodile
Summary: “Mr. Crocodile loves his job. Every morning he gets up with an alarm. He brushes his teeth. He chooses the right tie to match his outfit, eats a quick slice of toast, and heads off to work on a crowded train. But what exactly is his job? The answer may surprise you! Readers will want to pore over this witty, wordless book again and again, finding new details and fresh stories with every reading.” (Taken from Goodreads)
Review: A wordless picture book filled with a big surprise at the end and little surprises on almost every page. Mr. Crocodile is very much a professional, making sure to pick just the right tie, eat breakfast and head to work on time. I don’t want to say too much to ruin the surprise, but this is one that you’ll definitely get a giggle about in the end!
Personal Reaction: I know that many people are nervous to read wordless picture books, but I absolutely love them – you can add and change the story every time you read it. Plus, it’s a great way to teach kids to “read” the pictures of a story to better understand the text of a typical picture book. Although this was originally published in Italy, it so easily translates that you might not even notice it! This is a fun book to explore and pour over and delight in over and over again.

This is a new idea I’m trying on my blog this year that was inspired by @donalynbooks and @heisereads – to provide a brief review of a picture book every day of 2018. You’ll get a brief summary of the story, a review of the content, illustrations and theme, my personal reaction to the book and all the pertinent publication information! Enjoy!
