#blogbookaday: If You Were the Moon

If You Were the Moon.jpgSummary:  “What would you do if you were the moon? Do you think you would rest quietly in the night sky? Oh, no. The moon does so much more than you might imagine! It spins like a twilight ballerina, plays tug-of-war with the ocean, and lights a pathway for baby sea turtles. Discover the many other roles the moon plays in this whimsical and lyrical picture book.” (Taken from Goodreads)

Review: The moon teaches a little girl all the things that it does to help the Earth as it rotates around the planet. It includes everything from steadying the Earth’s own rotation to creating high and low tide this book is sure to enlighten budding scientists and allow them to see the moon in a whole new way.

Personal Reaction: I really enjoy reading accessible nonfiction for kids – especially when it’s written in a way that makes it easy to add more information when its wanted and skip it when you just want a good story. The book creates a beautiful story line, but also includes blocks of text that provide the reader with more information if they want to know more. Plus, with a glossary in the back and an additional resources list – this book is a great example of nonfiction for even the littlest of learners.

#blogbookaday (1)This is a new idea I’m trying on my blog this year that was inspired by @donalynbooks and @heisereads – to provide a brief review of a picture book every day of 2018. You’ll get a brief summary of the story, a review of the content, illustrations and theme, my personal reaction to the book and all the pertinent publication information! Enjoy!
