#blogbookaday: Moon

MoonSummary:  “Like many children, Moon leads a busy life. School, homework, music lessons, sports, and the next day it begins again. She wonders if things could be different. Then, one night, she meets a wolf.
The wolf takes Moon deep into the dark, fantastical forest and there she learns to howl, how to hide, how to be still, and how to be wild. And in that, she learns what it’s like to be free.” (Taken from Goodreads)

Review: Moon is a very busy child with music lessons, soccer practice, homework and more – just like so many kids today. And Moon wonders what it would be like to be free. She meets a wolf in the garden one night who leads her to the wolf pack and teaches her to be present and wild and free. A lesson so many of us need a reminder of once in a while.

Personal Reaction: I fell in love with Alison’s work after reading a number of the BabyLit board books and this story doesn’t disappoint. I loved the idea of connecting with nature and letting go of the endless to-do list for just a few hours and learning how important play, finding your voice and being still really is. If you’re looking for a story to get away from the pressures of everyday life, then this is it. Plus, being able to howl a little during a read aloud is just plain fun!

#blogbookaday (1)This is a new idea I’m trying on my blog this year that was inspired by @donalynbooks and @heisereads – to provide a brief review of a picture book every day of 2018. You’ll get a brief summary of the story, a review of the content, illustrations and theme, my personal reaction to the book and all the pertinent publication information! Enjoy!
