#blogbookaday: Shake the Tree!

Shake the Tree!Summary:  “Mouse spots a nut high up in a tree. “Mmm,” she says. “I’m going to gobble that up!” So she shakes the tree a little to the right, and she shakes the tree a little to the left. But it isn’t the nut that falls from the tree, it’s Fox, who thinks that Mouse looks pretty tasty! Soon a warthog and then a bear come along with similar ideas. Little readers will enjoy the just-made-it escapes (and be happy to get in on the shaking action), only to laugh out loud when their expectations are foiled at the end.” (Taken from Goodread)

Review: This falls in the same lines of Press Here by Hervé Tullet and the book I just reviewed recently Touch the Brightest Star by Christie Matheson as an interactive book that really gets the reader involved in the story. With cute cartoon animals, each more excited than the next for a little snack, this is a fun story with a surprise ending that is sure to make kids giggle.

Personal Reaction: This would make a fun read for one-on-one or in a storytime with a large group of kids. I really enjoyed the cartoon animals and bright colors that make this book up, plus this book is read vertically instead of horizontally at times which is really fun for kids to experience.

#blogbookaday (1)This is a new idea I’m trying on my blog this year that was inspired by @donalynbooks and @heisereads – to provide a brief review of a picture book every day of 2018. You’ll get a brief summary of the story, a review of the content, illustrations and theme, my personal reaction to the book and all the pertinent publication information! Enjoy!
