#blogbookaday: The Weather Girls – Literacious
Summary: “Spring, summer, autumn or winter – the intrepid Weather Girls are ready for whatever the seasons might bring! Join them as they stomp through autumn leaves, enjoy a summer swim, explore the lush green forests and climb a snowy mountain. There is so much to experience and discover when you jump up and step outside with this lively group of friends.” (Taken from Goodreads) Review: Sixteen girls celebrate throughout the year as each season changes with activities that work best in each season – like swimming in summer, picking apples in autumn, bundling up in winter and playing outdoors again in the spring. I really liked how the author/illustrator showed the girls all participating in outdoor, physical activities – enjoying the weather and exploring each season together! Personal Reaction: This is a great story to learn the basics of the seasons, if you live in a temperate environment that has four distinct seasons. It would work really well in a STEM storytime about the weather or seasons and reminds me vaguely of Madeline with all the little girls standing in a row. My favorite Weather Girl has to be the one named Laura with red, curly hair, just like me! Title: The Weather Girls Author: Aki Illustrator: Aki Publisher: Henry Holt and Co. Publication Date: March 6, 2018 This is a new idea I’m trying on my blog this year that was inspired by @donalynbooks and @heisereads – to provide a brief review of a picture book every day of 2018. You’ll get a brief summary of the story, a review of the content, illustrations and theme, my personal reaction to the book and all the pertinent publication information! Enjoy!
