Top Ten Tuesday: Books I Didn't Love (Don't Hate Me)
Don’t @ me asking me how I could dislike all of these titles, but I’m not a huge fan of classics. I’ve never been and I think that if I had read these books as an adult, it might have been different. Having read them in high school, I don’t think I got the full effect of the novels and most likely won’t pick them up again, there’s so many other books out there to read and enjoy!
- Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka
- The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
- Our Town by Thornton Wilder
- The Catcher in the Rye by J. D. Salinger
- The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt
- Beowulf
- Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes
- Gone With the Wind by Margaret Mitchell
- A Farewell to Arms by Ernest Hemingway
- Animal Farm by George Orwell

Sad that my kiddos are reading Flowers for Algernon in middle school. I’d love to see them with some more current options! I agree that maybe these would be appreciated more as an adult. They’ve also read the Crucible and Scarlet Letter. There may be value in classics, but I’d love to see them freshen up!

I’d love to see classes compare classics with more odern titles, I think that would be the beginning of great discussion on universal theme.
