#blogbookaday: Idea Jar

Idea Jar.jpgSummary:  “From the author of Warning: Do Not Open This Book comes a lively story about a teacher’s special jar where her students keep their story ideas—but watch out when those ideas go on the loose!
The idea jar is where students keep their ideas—anything from a Viking to a space robot to a giant dragon. These ideas can be combined to make new exciting stories. But watch out when the ideas escape the jar—they might get a little rowdy! Adam Lehrhaupt’s newest picture book is sure to inspire creativity, imagination, and adventure.

Review: A teacher’s idea jar is the perfect place to find an idea for a new story, better yet combine a few ideas for a story that is out of this world! But, when the ideas escape the Idea Jar (with a little help from a bored Viking), kids better watch out as it gets to be a little too exciting in the classroom. In order to get the classroom back in order the kids use the ideas to create their own story and voila – the classroom and the Idea Jar are restored!

Personal Reaction: Pair this read aloud book with The Creativity Project: An Awesometastic Story Collection by Colby Sharp to get stories flowing through your classroom, quick as a wink! This could also make a great summer project for kids – pick out a new idea once a week and create a story around it – uses creativity and imagination as well as problem solving, typing or writing skills, etc.

#blogbookaday (1)This is a new idea I’m trying on my blog this year that was inspired by @donalynbooks and @heisereads – to provide a brief review of a picture book every day of 2018. You’ll get a brief summary of the story, a review of the content, illustrations and theme, my personal reaction to the book and all the pertinent publication information! Enjoy!
