#blogbookaday: Spunky Little Monkey

Spunky Little Monkey.jpgSummary:  “Sleepy little monkey won’t get out of bed.
Mama called the Doctor and the Doctor said:
“Apple Juice, Orange Juice, Gooseberry Pies —
Monkey needs some exercise!”
Sleepy little monkeys everywhere will clap, stomp, shake, and cheer — while chanting this rhythmic, energetic dance song based on a popular playground game. And as they move their heads, hands, hips, and feet — everyone will be bursting with clapping energy — and ready to start a new day!
With humor, high energy, and Bill Martin Jr’s trademark rhythm and rhyme, young readers will learn to name parts of the body. And the book makes a perfect exercise warm-up to start off a busy day of school!” (Taken from Goodreads)

Review: A sleepy little monkey needs a little encouragement to jump out of bed, so with clapping, stomping, shaking and cheering the reader gets a chance to help the little monkey great for the day! This is an interactive, fun story that is sure to get your little one up and moving too!

Personal Reaction: A more perfect storytime book you won’t come across – this is a great read aloud full of interactive ways to keep little ones engaged in the book, especially for toddlers and preschoolers. Filled with repetition and and gross motor movements, this book hits on so many different levels, plus with an absolutely adorable little monkey and bright colors this book is so much fun!

#blogbookaday (1)This is a new idea I’m trying on my blog this year that was inspired by @donalynbooks and @heisereads – to provide a brief review of a picture book every day of 2018. You’ll get a brief summary of the story, a review of the content, illustrations and theme, my personal reaction to the book and all the pertinent publication information! Enjoy!
